here. Personally, I find the plague disturbingly fascinating. I was curious about how the germs traveled in the infected cloth mentioned in the story from London to the small town. I am wondering if it was on fleas that may have been in the cloth. What do you think?

I think I've heard that before. That the plague would spread with all sorts of trade items because the fleas from the rats would get into the merchandise. I'd have to look it up to be sure though. Crazy that they'd do so much to protect themselves from each other when the actual germs would be right in front of them and in their homes.
We are reading this book now for our book club. So far, it is great. I too am fascinated by the plague. I am also a big WWII buff - it is just an amazing time period. Cheers.
